Inaugurated in 2005 and hosted on the every first Friday in October since, our annual gala dinner, SNOW (Say No to the Oppression of Women), is a fundraising platform for UN Women Singapore (previously known as United Nations Development Fund for Women – UNIFEM – Singapore). Each annual SNOW event sees Singapore’s socially-conscious professionals come together for an evening of glamour, gastronomy and goodwill.
Proceeds from SNOW 2012 will support UN Women Singapore’s (serving as a National Committee to UN Women) efforts in Singapore and across Southeast Asia, taking a multi-pronged strategy to empower vulnerable women, such as:
- Public education initiatives to influence and change community mindsets which stand in the way of empowering women to live a productive life free of abuse
The Bamboo Project in Cambodia, where UN Women provides skills training and economic empowerment programmes to help advance sustainable livelihoods for women bamboo weavers and their families
